Summary

Satan (Hebrew: שָׂטָן, "adversary", "accuser") is the demon prince of Wrath (Ira) in the hierarchy of the Seven Deadly Sins. Originally the prosecutor in God's celestial court, Satan evolved into the chief adversary of God and humanity in Judeo-Christian tradition.

Distinction from Lucifer

• Lucifer fell first through pride
• Satan fell as the adversary who opposes God
• In some sources, Lucifer and Satan are the same entity at different stages

• Belial - "worthless", spirit of perversion

• Satanel - "adversary of God" (before falling)
